Welcome
to issue fourteen of. ,
the monthly newsletter from the MSD Interpharma HIV Team.
|

The April issue of HIV@MSD gave us an opportunity to discover
a special model of orphan management in limited resource settings,
Dula
Sentle in Otse, Botswana.
This
month HIV@MSD lifts up the curtain on the people who are behind
Dula Sentle, and in particular on Gill Fonteyn, its founder.
Upon arriving to Africa, by chance, thirteen years ago, everything
he has done ever since has been driven by the same personal
commitment to improve the situation of the children and families
living around him and his wife Brenda.
- 1996
: Launch of Legodimo Trust, a vocational training center
for teenaged youth with disabilities
- 2001:
Launch of Dula Sentle, an orphan day care center
- 2006:
Creation of the Gill & Brenda Fonteyn Foundation
to support the "extended" families - often grandparents
who lost their children and look after their grandchildren
- severely hit by the HIV/AIDS death toll.
