A Phillips Pharmaceuticals’ delivery truck delivers imported ARV products to the Mission for Essential Drugs Supply (MEDS), a private distribution network for ARVs and other drugs based in Nairobi run by a group of Catholic and Protestant churches. Phillips charges a nominal handling fee of 5 percent to all of its customers, running the ARV side of its business on a not-for-profit basis. It sustains the ARV program through the profits it makes on the distribution of its other medical products.
