Jane Masiga, head of operations for MEDS, points out some of the challenges MEDS faces in its distribution of ARVs to remote areas. “In some cases, it requires 2 to 3 days to deliver drugs to some rural areas because of bad roads. And when we arrive at the hospitals often they do not have proper refrigeration and storage facilities for ARVs. Lack of healthcare infrastructure and medical professionals in these isolated areas of the country continues to be a challenge.”
