Pharmaceutical company Merck Sharp & Dohme has collaborated with the Rwandan National AIDS Control Commission, the TRAC and other partners to train hundreds of healthcare workers in district and rural areas throughout the country in how to manage ARVs, prevention and other aspects of HIV/AIDS care.
Since September 1998, the HIV drug manufacturer has sponsored the training of 12 Rwandan doctors on antiretroviral therapy in European hospitals. These doctors have become the referral physicians for ARV therapy and the trainers of many other physicians and health workers in Rwanda.
