The medical staff, already trained in HIV management in Butare in '04, was previously only offering Voluntary Testing & Counseling and Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission to HIV-infected patients.
Insufficient laboratory equipment and frequent electricity outages remain challenges for the hospital.
